Day 20

This will be the last post until Monday. But first we got to do today. We started with a trip to Mount Rushmore and spent quite some time there. There was a Sioux Indian telling about his people around the same time as Mount Rushmore was carved. We ended that trip there with ice cream. Apparently Thomas Jefferson was the first one to make ice cream in America. We next went swimming at the hotel. So the next part of today should explain what's going on next in our trip. We went to Walmart for camping supplies because tomorrow we are going camping at the Grand Tetons for a Miller Family Reunion. So I will see you when I get back home.
See you then,
Hannah

Day 19

Ok, since today was shortish, how about we start with my first paycheck? Yeah you heard me, well read me, I said my first paycheck. Before we left on our trip I got  job at Radioshack, I'm only suppose to work only once or twice a week, but those first two weeks I worked almost every day. So, now that's done, let's get back to today. We went to the Kanesville Tabernacle in Chancel Bluffs, Iowa where Brigham Young was sustained as the 2nd Prophet. We learned a lot of cool things about the Mormon Battalion that has to do with trail blazing and the gold rush of '49. We crossed the Mormon Bridge to the Mormon Trail Center by the Winter Quarters Temple in Nebraska. We met Sister Beck from New Harmony, so whoever sees Laine or Brother Pace next tell them that Sister Beck says hi. We drove for the rest of the day until we got to a place about two miles from Mount Rushmore in South Dakota where we stopped for the night.
See ya,

Day 18

What a great day! The sun was up at 5:30, which helped us wake up for something very special that we did. We went and did baptisms for the dead in the Nauvoo Temple. The temple president actually helped us with confirmations, though when we went in to do the baptisms, the guy there got confused and we did another batch of confirmations. It was Lucy's first time doing baptisms so we had her go first for baptisms and the first batch of confirmations. After that we grabbed the family and went to the Nauvoo Family Center where we tasted fresh bread (which was delicious) and got a rope. We then went to the Brickyard and got a brick, the guy there was really nice and apparently has his birthday the day before Brayden's. The story behind that is that he was guessing our ages, he didn't come close with mine so he was surprised when he found out I was 17. We next went to the Blacksmith's where we got a tiny horseshoe and Prairie Diamonds, I was finally able to replace the one I lost. We went to Carthage Jail and saw where the Prophet was shot. We drove on to Liberty Jail which was a cool place. You know the story where Joseph rebuked his jailers by saying that if they don't stop their evil sayings now either he or them will die right then? Yeah, that didn't happen there, that happened in Ray County. While we were there we saw our old friend Savannah Werber, who went there for her mission about a month ago. It was fun catching up with her, I haven't seen her since the Priest and Laurels activities where she sang with the Institute Choir. We sent a picture to her mom and she replied quickly. We ended today by going to Omaha, Nebraska at 1 in the morning.
See ya,
Hannah

Day 17

Well today was eventful, not as eventful as D.C., but eventful.  we started by going to the Air Force National Museum, this helped Brayden discover that he wanted to build an airplane this summer and he is going to no matter what.  It was so cool!!!  Everybody loved it!  It was so cool to see all the different types of airplanes and when and where they were used.  We then drove all the way back to Nauvoo, we then watched the Sunset on the Mississippi show, it was hilarious.  We then took a tour of the visitor center in Nauvoo, and we watched a movie.  It was a eventful day only during some parts, the parts when we were not driving.  Hope all you guys' lives are as eventful as ours.  See you soon!
